The New York Marathon
As I probably have mentioned, I’m planning to run the New York Marathon in 2008. Although I have a long time to train, and I’ve already started training for a spring half marathon, I’m a little bit nervous about the time and effort required to train, considering I haven’t run a marathon for over 10 years.
In case any of you are feeling the same way as I am, I thought I’d share this video I found - I thought it perfectly captured the sights, sounds and emotions of the marathon. I hope you find it as inspiring as I did.
Now get out there and run!

wow! that was a great clip … inspiring yet at the same time the sheer number of runners is very intimidating. my friends and i are also hoping to run the NY Marathon … maybe in 2009 after we have at least done 1 or 2 marathons.

Yes, those bigger races are kind of crazy. It is intimidating, but also exciting, to be a part of something so huge. Good luck with your marathon plans, bards!

I have never run a marathon before, it seems like too many miles to me. I think 3 is the most I’ve ever raced before..

Wow, great clip. I’m not sure if that makes me want to run it more or less, just all those people. I get pretty frustrated if they started getting in my way, but if you’re with similar runners in ability, I imagine it would be ok.
