New Shoe Will Help Us Run Faster?
I just learned from an article in The Denver Post about a new shoe that claims it will help runners run faster.
According to the founder of Newton Running, Danny Abshire, his shoes help runners run faster by allowing runners to land on the front or middle of their feet, putting the ankle and heel into a flexed position and making them run faster automatically. The shoes also ‘sport a raised, springy ridge toward the front that causes the shoe to bounce when it strikes the ground’.
I haven’t tried out this shoe yet, but the description really interests me. It sounds like the shoe naturally guides runners toward landing on the balls of their feet, much like the Pose Method suggests you should do. I’ll probably try them out next time I’m in the market for a new shoe - but with a $175 price tag, I’m not sure I’ll be able to justify the price unless I can find them on sale.
